Viridumar is a city of many names: the Green City, the City of Spices, the City-State of the World Emperor, the Viridian City, the Eternal City, or simply the City. It is the capital of the empire of Viridstan, the current center of the Mer Shunna religion, home of the last living True Viridian (the emperor Hautulin Seheitt and – until recently – his wife), and a major center of trade.
Viridumar was founded in the year 101 BCCC (4332 years ago) and has been ruled by a True Viridian ever since. Its primary exports are spices, herbs, and fine wines, but as the center of the empire and a major port city, goods of every sort are regularly bought and sold in Viridumar’s markets.
Viridumar lies on the Trident Gulf which forms the southern and eastern border of Viridstan. Viridstan controls a small number of islands in the gulf (most notably Gheulost Island) but is primarily a land-based power, and the empire thus extends primarily north and west from Viridumar. Northeastern expansion is limited by the border with the elven forest of Elsenwood. To the northwest the empire extends for leagues until it reaches lands too wild and savage to be worth conquering, such as the primitive Eleph territories. To the west Viridstan is bordered by the dwarven mountain nations. To the southwest, the empire extends to the borders of the great desert wherein lie the Holy Cities, source of the Mycretian cult. Viridstan has “conquered” this desert several times in the past but always failed to retain control of the sparsely populated territory.
